I think if you use expressions like "heteronormativity" in an unironic way, you should probably take a step back and re-examine your life. I mean really, could you be any more pretentious?

I don't think I could even say that word without stuttering.

It took me three tries.

Took me only two. But I've heard the word. Not that I, myself, ever said it before, but I've heard it.

And I say it with a drawl, if that's enough to make anyone laugh.

I would love to hear that word said with a drawl. I think that would be hilarious. :-p

Actually, I've been involved in conversations like that. With someone pursuing a master's in sociology. (I wasn't using that particular polysyllabic word, but she was.)

It's a word with a specific meaning. In the right context, it's a really useful word. Seriously.

Outside of that context, though, you have a point.

I understand that from a sociologist's POV it may have some uses, and I suppose it's all right to use this particular portmanteau in an academic sense.

All I'm saying is when a young guy does an article on Magic the Gathering's website and mentions in passing that playing the game doesn't mean girls will automatically find you repulsive, it doesn't make him part of the straight people's agenda or something.

Yeah, that's outside of the right context.
